How Pawns Move: Part II Worksheet
The pawns are the first line of attack in a game of chess. Also, they are the most pieces assigned to each player. Pawns cannot jump over other pieces. Also, if there is any piece in the pawn’s way, the pawn will be unable to move and will be blocked as long as that piece stays there. In this worksheet, ask your child to put an X to show all the moves the pawns whose paths are not blocked can make.
Required skills:
To successfully complete this worksheet, students should know how the pawns move in chess, that they cannot jump over other pieces, and that they can become blocked by other pieces on the board. They also need to be able to identify which pawns are not blocked and mark their possible moves with an X.
