In this lesson, students will play a math quiz game and answer decimal math questions. Next, students will follow a step-by-step tutorial in the DIY (do-it-yourself) module to create their own version of the quiz game they just played. They will program the Actors to ask a question, make the Actor react to correct and incorrect answers, and create their own decimal math problems. If students finish early, ask them to look at the bonus section in step 5/5 of the tutorial, which encourages them to customize the background and add more Actors.
After completing the DIY module, students will be asked 5 quiz questions involving decimal math problems. By the end of the lesson, students will have experimented with coding concepts (e.g., input/output, basic math, loops, messaging, visibility) while reinforcing real-world scenarios where students need to figure out if they have enough money to afford a given item.
