Equal Fractions

Equal Fractions

In this lesson, students will play an Equal Fractions game and move their mouse cursor to the fraction on the candy that matches the fraction on the dog’s body. Next, students will follow a step-by-step tutorial in the DIY (do-it-yourself) module to create their own version of the Equal Fractions game they just played. They will change the background and costumes, code the dog Actor to follow the mouse pointer or follow the touch location, and make the candy Actors react to the dog Actor when touching occurs. If students finish early, ask them to look at the bonus section in step 5/6 of the tutorial, which encourages students to use the provided code blocks and add more collectibles that spin, explode, transform, or move.
After completing the DIY module, students will be asked 5 quiz questions that involve simplifying fractions. By the end of the lesson, students will have experimented with coding concepts (e.g., loops, direction and turning, delays, basic math, motion, events, conditions, sound playing) while reinforcing fractions.

Daughter's favorite
Still a top favorite for our 7 year old. She loves earning her stars as she learns to trace letters and numbers. Coloring and the sounds are engaging and are on target for her age group and being Pre K.
