In this lesson, students will play a Finding Area quiz game and solve area problems to help the fox determine how much grass it has. Next, students will follow a step-by-step tutorial in the DIY (do-it-yourself) module to create their own version of the Finding Area quiz game they just played. They will customize the background and Actors, create their own area questions, and program their quiz game to check the answer.
After completing the DIY module, students will be asked 5 quiz questions about finding area. By the end of the lesson, students will have experimented with coding concepts (e.g., costume handling, input/output, conditionals, messaging, basic math, visibility) while reinforcing area problems.
