In this lesson, students will watch an example of a grammar quiz while correcting the punctuation of given sentences. Next, students will use code blocks to create a grammar quiz in the DIY module. Coding activities include selecting a background, typing a grammatically incorrect sentence using the “ask” block, making star Actors appear and disappear, and using the “answer” block to include the grammatically correct answer. Students are provided the necessary visual assets (backgrounds, costumes, Actors) and code blocks in the DIY module.
After completing the DIY module, students will be asked 5 quiz questions about identifying sentences with the correct punctuation. By the end of the lesson, students will have experimented with coding concepts (e.g., costume handling, text handling, if-then statements) while reinforcing proper punctuation usage.
