Parallel/Perpendicular

Parallel/Perpendicular

In this lesson, students will preview an example of a project about shapes with parallel and perpendicular lines. Next, students will follow a step-by-step tutorial in the DIY (do-it-yourself) module to create their own version of the project. They will change the background, program Actors to respond when they are selected, and make the Stage say something. If students finish early, ask them to look at the bonus section in step 6/6 of the tutorial, which encourages them to experiment with their code and expand on their project by adding nearby objects (e.g., pencil, paper) to their project.
After completing the DIY module, students will be asked 5 quiz questions involving parallel and perpendicular lines. By the end of the lesson, students will have experimented with coding concepts (e.g., simple events, loops, motion, delays, direction and turning, messaging) while reinforcing differences between parallel and perpendicular lines.
