Assessment: Aquarium Sign Worksheet
In an aquarium, we can find all kinds of sea life living in water filled tanks and we can watch them to become more familiar with some of their habits. Has your child ever been to an aquarium? Can they tell you some of the creatures they saw there, and which one was their favorite? Now, look at the aquarium sign in this worksheet. Point at each sea creature and help your child identify it. Look below and read the questions to your kids, then ask them to circle the correct answer.
When an author writes something, they usually have a message to pass across, or are giving more information on a particular topic. As your kids learn to read, it is important that they know how to get correct information out of whatever they read. In this worksheet, there are three different descriptions of texts. Help your kids figure out the author’s purpose, and then circle it out of the options provided.
Writing is an art, and writers often express their emotions through beautifully constructed sentences and thought-provoking words. Some forms of writing exist simply to give more information about a particular object, person, or event, while other forms of writing describe something or someone. In this worksheet, your kids will be learning about the Pilgrims sailing to America. Read the short descriptive text to them, and then check the answers to the questions at the bottom of the page.

Sometimes, writers write just to give more information about a particular person, event, or object. In this worksheet, your kids will learn about the different kinds of writing; descriptive writing, explanatory writing and persuasive writing. Read the short descriptive text to them, and then check the answers to the questions at the bottom of the page.
Using this worksheet, you can easily teach your kids about the different kinds of writing that we have. In a descriptive writing, a writer writes to describe a situation. An explanatory writing exists to tell the readers how to do something. And a persuasive writing tries to convince the readers to do or think in a certain type of way. Read the short piece of explanatory text to your kids and then help them answer the questions by circling the correct answer.
First, ask your kids if they know what an index is in a book. Hand them a book and then ask them to point at the index. An index is a list of words with page numbers. Every writer knows that a book or a collection of works must have an index. A book index helps readers know where to find chapters or information they are looking for in a book. Look at the index in this worksheet with your kids, read the questions below the picture, and circle the correct number.
Thanksgiving is here, and why not get your child ready for the big day with charmingly fun Thanksgiving coloring pages? Thanksgiving officially kicks off the holiday season for many families, and is a magical time of giving thanks for family, blessings, and much more. Encourage the spirit of the season with this adorable coloring page that will remind your little artist the original meaning of Thanksgiving. Talk to your child about the pilgrims coming together to celebrate the bounty of the season, and being thankful for all that they have.
Remind them of the history behind our great holiday, to inspire them to be thankful for all that they have in their life. Let your little pilgrim use his or her coloring page to decorate the house and remind him or her of the reason for this humble holiday.
Reading helps your kids get better at processing different kinds of information. As they learn how to read better, they will also get better at analyzing texts and finding information in those texts. The best way you can get your kids to get better at this is by constant practice, and your kids can easily get this practice with this worksheet. The text features in the picture are intended to help readers find their way through the information in texts. Help your kids find out how these features help readers.
When writing, writers have to pay attention to and follow a lot of rules which guide their work. The rules are well known to every writer and reader, and make their work a whole lot easier to organize. Subheadings in a story, text or any publication are usually in bold font at the top centre of the page. The text in this worksheet has a subheading. Read the text to your kids and help them circle the answer to the question below.
