# Social Studies Lesson - Cities and States, Grade 1

• ### Activity 2 / Cities and States: Matching Worksheet

Before you begin this exercise, can you ask your child if they can mention some of the states in your country? If they are able to mention at least a few, then, congratulations to you and them. If they are unable to name some, after this worksheet, they would have added some states to their vocabulary. Look at the map of cities and states with your little ones. Ask them to carefully observe the shape and color of each state pictured. Then, ask them to answer the questions by checking the state where each city is located.

• ### Activity 3 / Counting States Worksheet

You can use this colourful and educative worksheet to teach your little ones more about their country. Before starting this exercise, you might first want to ask your kids if they can name all the states in the country. If they can, you have done a pretty good job at teaching them so far, and you can take it further with this tracing sheet. Ask them to count the states in each group. Then, help them trace on the dotted lines to match the group of states with the correct number.

• ### Activity 4 / State Word Search Worksheet

Let’s take a road trip across the United States using this state word search puzzle to help your child identify the targeted states in the picture!
It’s tough to remember how to identify all 50 states, but completing this worksheet will teach your child to look for just a few in a fun and engaging way!

This was a really fun way to get my kids to practice their math. I usually struggle to get them into it and Kids Academy makes it easy.

Daughter's favorite
Still a top favorite for our 7 year old. She loves earning her stars as she learns to trace letters and numbers. Coloring and the sounds are engaging and are on target for her age group and being Pre K.
