    A community is an area where different people live. Communities can have schools, homes, and places of worship, businesses and other buildings in them. In order for a community to run smoothly and to grow, it is important that the members of the community follow certain rules and guidelines that are stated. You can use this colourful worksheet to teach your kids more about the rules that guide communities. Ask them to look through the printout and check the box next to the picture that shows someone following community rules.

    In order to stay safe in a community, signs are put up, and residents must follow these signs. For example, when a road construction is going on, a caution sign is usually put up. Ask your kids if they can mention some of the signs they often see; at the swimming pool, the park, or anywhere else. Now, look at this worksheet with them. Ask them to check the community signs that best matches the picture on the left.
