Learning phonics goes hand in hand with learning how to read. For your child to be able to understand how to pronounce words, you must assist them in learning the different phonetic sounds. Challenge your kid to tell you the difference between the long and the short I vowel sound. If they have problems, remind them that the long vowel I says its name while the short vowel I does not.
