Singular and Plural Possessive Nouns

The English language has a multitude of grammar rules. Young students find that learning the rules and writing with correct grammar is a major challenge. This Kids Academy video helps students master using correct punctuation when writing singular and plural possessive nouns.

The video teacher first explains that nouns can be singular or plural and gives examples of both of these types of nouns. Next, the teacher defines possessive nouns and uses her previous examples and punctuates the nouns correctly. Note that the teacher gives an example of a special plural: children.

The worksheet example provides the students with several opportunities to identity singular possessive nouns that would be punctuated with an apostrophe and s and then nouns that are plural possessive and need only to have the apostrophe at the end of the word. The teacher is careful to explain why each noun is either singular or plural.

This grammar video with a worksheet example is a wonderful resource for teachers to use with their ELA instruction.
