Faces of 3D Shapes

Identify faces of three-dimensional shapes in this instructional video. The teacher explains that the face students are learning about is not a human face, but actually the face of a 3-D shape. A face is defined as any flat surface of a shape. The task of the worksheet is to look at the three-dimensional shapes and check the shape that has the face shown to the left of the solid shapes.

The teacher works through each problem and explains the answers he finds. He names the solid shapes: sphere, rectangular prism, cube, cone and pyramid. He points out that a sphere has no faces because its surface is not flat.

Students that identify the faces of a solid shape can describe the attributes of a shape and are ready to move onto identifying edges and vertices. Use this worksheet for practice and re-teaching in your geometry class. It provides instruction on faces of 3-D shapes as well as using solid shape vocabulary.

Daughter's favorite
Still a top favorite for our 7 year old. She loves earning her stars as she learns to trace letters and numbers. Coloring and the sounds are engaging and are on target for her age group and being Pre K.
