Contractions are very popular in the English language. They make writing and reading easier, and are mostly used in informal writing. Contractions are the combination of two words to make one, with an apostrophe between them. For example; I am = I’m, they are = they’re, she is = she’s, and so on. Ask your students if they can give you some more popular contractions. Then, read the sentences in this worksheet and help them check the correct contraction to replace the words in bold.

Required skills:
To resolve this worksheet, students should have knowledge about what contractions are, how to form them, and common examples of contractions in English. They should also be able to identify the two words used to form a contraction and know when to use them in a sentence.
