Teach your children what the position of all the chess pieces are supposed to be at the onset of the game. The black army is positioned at ranks 7 and 8 on the chessboard, while the white army starts on ranks 1 and 2. On the chessboards at the bottom, your child must check the correct chess piece that will start the game from the highlighted boxes on each board.

Required skills:
To be able to resolve this worksheet, students should know the basic rules of chess, including which pieces belong to which army and where they are placed on the board at the start of the game. They should also be able to recognize and match the correct chess pieces to their starting positions on the highlighted boxes of the chessboards.
