As your students learn more, they will be exposed to new words and new parts of speech. After learning the noun and verb, the next part of speech they will be directed to is the adverb. An adverb is a word which gives more meaning to a verb. For example, ‘quickly’, ‘always’, ‘heavily’ are all examples of adverbs. Ask your students if they can give you some of their own examples. Now, help them circle the starfish in this worksheet which answer the question; ‘how often?’

Required skills:
To resolve this worksheet, students should know the meaning and function of adverbs, and specifically understand how adverbs answer the question "how often?" in relation to the verb.
