Learning Games: Exciting New Feature on Talented and Gifted Online!

Kids Academy is always hard at work updating our resources to provide teachers and parents with the most cutting-edge learning solutions for children in preschool through third grade. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce the launch of a brand-new feature in Talented and Gifted Online: the Toy Box! Now kids can take a break from their lessons to play educational games that review basic math and ELA skills. All games were designed to make the learning process more enjoyable by and effective by allowing children to review foundational skills in a fun and friendly way.
Being part of the Talented and Gifted Online web app, the Toy Box can be easily accessed online from any device and browser!
Exploring the Toy Box
Users can access games by clicking the Toy Box near the center of the screen. From there, children select games by clicking on a game card that features a screenshot of the game. Use the arrow on the right edge of the screen to explore the whole collection and find even more educational games to play. Each game was crafted to hone a fundamental skill in math or ELA, such as sorting and matching by vowel sound, recognizing groups of numbers and many more!
Let’s take a closer look at the types of games included in the Toy Box:
Math
- Matching by shape
Read the words and match it to the shape, including 3D shapes! Also included is a game that challenges learners to match real-life objects to the shapes they represent.
- Recognizing groups of numbers
Can your child tell how many carrots there are simply by looking at a bunch? Multiple games are included reinforce this crucial skill, starting with one that allows kids to match like images before moving on to tougher games that match numbers with pictures.
- Telling time
Believe it or not, reading an analog clock is a dying skill, as teenagers often make it to high school without knowing how to read one! We won’t let this happen to your child, because there is a game for reading analog clocks, too!
- Addition and subtraction
Simple addition and subtraction practice is critical for building mental math skills.
English Language Arts
- Tracing letters
Players practice proper pencil strokes using just their finger to write letters.
- Tracing numbers
Players practice proper pencil strokes using just their finger to write letters.
- Rhyming words
Kids will love completing mazes to drag the character’s dog bone to the word that rhymes!
- Sight words and word parts
Children gain valuable practice completing sight words by filling in with the correct letters.
- Long ans short vowel sounds
Players listen carefully to complete the mazes by navigating to the correct vowel sounds.
Tic Tac Toe
In addition to the subject-themed games, we have also included a popular Tic Tac Toe game that can be played individually or with a partner. Face off against a friend, parent, or the computer while building strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
