This free chess worksheet will let your child learn how to checkmate the opposing king using a strategy that involves their king and queen. They'll use the descriptive sample boards to see the strategy of bringing their king in to help their queen checkmate. Then they'll use the sample boards underneath to decide which one shows how the king could help his queen checkmate the opposition.

Required skills:
To resolve this worksheet, students should be able to understand the role and movements of the king and queen in chess, and how they can work together to checkmate the opposing king. They should be able to identify the king and queen on the chess board, and visualize their placement to make winning moves.
