Most words in the English language are actually gotten from another language, or borrowed. Prefixes are words which are added to the beginning of another word in order to give it a new meaning. Suffixes, on the other hand, are added to the end of a word to change the meaning. A popular prefix is ‘act’. The Greek root ‘act’ means ‘to do’. Look at the words in this worksheet with your kids. Help them circle the words that have the root ‘act’.
