Daily Knowledge Boost with Kids Academy: Learning About Weather in Kindergarten

As a child enters Kindergarten, they are at an age where they are starting to notice the world around them more. An important skill in Kindergarten children  will need to develop by observing their environment is the ability to recognize different types of weather. Lesson 2: Observing Weather 

When students are able to recognize  weather patterns around them, they are collecting data. In older grades children will need  to be able to take this data and organize it. These lessons allow children to practice observing,collecting,and recording  weather data. 

Activity Overview: 

• Let’s Describe the Weather Worksheet: This activity asks students to look at the pictures and identify the weather types.

• How’s the Weather  Worksheet: Children will read along with you and practice observing their outside environment.

Lesson 3: Severe Weather

Once children start recognizing the most common types of weather, they can start exploring more severe weather types. These lessons have students explore extreme weather such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and blizzards. This allows children  to gain knowledge about the safety precautions with these types of weather.

• Severe Weather Worksheet: Children will learn about tornadoes, blizzards, floods, and droughts. 

• Severe Weather Words Worksheet: This activity continues the review of severe weather, the proper terms, and how to correctly spell them.
