Grade 1: Double Consonants

It is important that children are taught the tricks of grammar early in their lives. Children who have been taught how to spell, use proper punctuation, and understand verbs will find it easier to read and write as they progress. When it comes to adding the –ing suffix to verbs, doubling consonants comes into play. Kids might get a little confused when they see double consonants in words such as the past tense of some verbs. These worksheets will teach children how some words are spelled correctly and how double consonants can change the meaning of words.
