Names of Squares Worksheet
In the beginning stages of learning chess, your students might not realize that each file on the chessboard has its letter, and each rank is marked by a number. This allows for easy notation of each move that chess pieces make, and easy naming of each square. To name a square, you must name the file and rank of the square. In this worksheet, your child is given a set of square names. Ask them to put an X on the appropriate squares.
