In this lesson, students will preview a project about making change and answer decimal math problems. Next, students will follow a step-by-step tutorial in the DIY (do-it-yourself) module to create their own version of the project. They will program the Actor to explain the instructions, write and use functions, send and receive messages, and create their own decimal math problems. If students finish early, ask them to look at the bonus section in step 7/7 of the tutorial, which encourages them to add different types of math questions and add more animations.
After completing the DIY module, students will be asked 5 quiz questions involving making change. By the end of the lesson, students will have experimented with coding concepts (e.g., functions, messaging, loops, input/output, sound playing) while creating an interactive project about making change.
