In this lesson, students will read a short conversation between two Actors and identify the appropriate supporting ideas. Next, students will use code blocks in the DIY module to create their own interactive project about supporting ideas. Coding activities include making the idea Actors draggable, broadcasting a message, animating Actors, and using the “say” block to say supporting ideas. Students are provided the necessary visual assets (backgrounds, costumes, Actors) and code blocks.
After completing the DIY module, students will be asked 5 quiz questions that test their knowledge on identifying supporting ideas. By the end of the lesson, students will have experimented with coding concepts (e.g., events, loops, conditionals, conditions, motion, messaging, animation) while reinforcing different examples of supporting ideas.
